Our Goals
To live more like our grandparents did. Simply. Off the land. Focusing on sustainable methods, farm fresh produce and plants, heritage breeds, heirloom varieties and reusing/repurposing items to decrease waste. In doing this for ourselves, we found that those around us are interested in these things also.
To live by our ethics and values. Animals are treated with respect and care. We diversify our plants and companion plant to encourage bees and butterflies while naturally deterring some of the less-desirable insects and animals. Learning to utilize sustainable methods to promote diversity in our ecosystem.
To improve the health and well-being of our family, friends, and community through locally grown food, locally made products, and beautiful and fresh smelling plants.
Sustainability: Compost goes to our garden. Our garden feeds our family and our animals. Our animals feed us and contribute to our compost. We keep the circle going and continue to find new ways to expand.
Focus on being perfectly imperfect: relish our mistakes because we learn from them. Value the chicken with the crooked comb, the lumpy tomato, the flowers with wonky petals, and the jams with different flavors. This has become a core value in our family as our kids have worried about art or projects “not being perfect,” our response is often “good, perfect is boring.” Let’s take joy in the little things the world provides us.
